Chlorine Dilution

  • Dissolve 1 gram of chlorine in 1 liter of water; that would be 1,000 grams( 1kilo) for 1,000 liters of water to make disinfecting sollution

  • Then add one part of the disinfecting solution to each 100 parts of water to purify.  ( 1 liter of chlorine solution to 100 liters of water)

  • Usually bulk water treatment plants first dilute to WINCHLOR to make a 1% working solution at the rate of 14g  WINCHLOR  per liter of water. While testing to determine exact chlorine needs are preferable, the solution can be used at the dose rate of 8 drops/gallon, or for larger quantities, 1 part of 1% solution to 10,000 parts clear water. Either of these doses will result in 1 PPM chlorine and may need to be increased if the water wasn't already filtered by other means

Winchlor Dilution

To make a 1% disinfecting solution

  • 14 grams of winchlor : 1 liter of water

  • Dosing is still adjusted whenever Necessary

  • 1 liter of 1% solution : 10,000 liters of water

  • 8 drops per gallon

For one drum use

  • 40 kg= 40,000grams

  • Divide it by 14 grams/1% sollution=2,857

  • 2,857 can be dilute in 2,857 litters Solution

  • 2,857 solution  x 10,000

  • That’s 28,570,000 liters of water/ 1,000 ( per cubic meter) is 28,570 cubic meters
